Capable Leadership Initiative (CLI) is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization committed to developing boys and young men into capable, disciplined, and purpose-driven leaders. We believe capability is not simply something a person possesses—it can be cultivated through intentional guidance, meaningful relationships, accountability, opportunity, and consistent development.
Our work addresses the whole young man—mind, body, and character—creating opportunities for boys to discover their potential, strengthen their confidence, develop leadership skills, and prepare to positively influence their homes, schools, communities, and future professions.
We believe every young man has the capacity to grow, lead, and make a meaningful contribution when someone is willing to see his potential and intentionally invest in his development.
At CLI, leadership begins with learning to lead yourself. Through mentorship, accountability, education, physical development, character formation, and real-world experiences, we help young men develop the discipline and confidence necessary to make responsible decisions, overcome challenges, serve others, and pursue meaningful goals.
We don't simply ask young men what they want to become. We help equip them to become capable of getting there.
Capable Leadership Initiative grew from a concern that too many boys are navigating the transition to manhood without the intentional guidance, support, and development they need to thrive. What began as research into masculinity, character formation, family structures, and the challenges facing young men eventually led to the development of a youth leadership program designed to address the whole young man—mind, body, and character.
The vision became more urgent when a mother seeking help for her son shared many of the same concerns the program was being designed to address. That conversation helped transform an idea into a mission. With the addition of Coach Michael Guinn II and a shared commitment to developing young men holistically, Leading Men took shape and ultimately became the flagship program of Capable Leadership Initiative.
Today, CLI exists to bring families, mentors, educators, and communities together to help boys recognize their potential and become capable men prepared to lead.
Capable Leadership Initiative is governed by a Board of Directors committed to responsible stewardship, accountability, transparency, and the long-term advancement of our mission.
Our Board brings together individuals with diverse professional experiences, perspectives, and areas of expertise who share one common commitment: investing in the development and future of young men.
Working alongside CLI leadership, our directors provide strategic oversight, safeguard the organization's mission and resources, cultivate community partnerships, and help ensure that our programs remain effective, sustainable, and responsive to the young men and communities we serve.
